I've written several songs over the past two years, but I have been mostly focused on trying to finish writing an album's worth of material telling the story of the life of John the Baptist. I decided early on to do something I really wanted to attempt as a challenge to myself and that would be to focus on one Biblical theme, rather than recording a hodgepodge of songs with different topics. I've finished my fifth of ten songs and have started on the lyrics to the sixth. I have the music ready for each of the remaining four songs after that, as well as what the subject matter will be for each.

I thought John was an appropriate subject since his entire life's purpose was to point to Christ, and hopefully through the retelling of that story the same purpose would be accomplished. It's amazing how much is said in the Bible in the course of a few words of any choosing, and it is always eye-opening to put a magnifying glass over any section of those words, no matter how small, and read them again.

I've tried to hold myself to just this one subject, however, I have written some others over the course of time and I recorded one of those very quickly this weekend at about 2 o'clock in the morning after I finished working Friday night.
